Set an approval limit on a group

Configure an approval limit so that documents above a certain amount automatically escalate to a higher-level group after this group approves.

How the limit works

The limit is the maximum invoice total this group can approve without escalation. The comparison is strict: a document at exactly the limit is not escalated — only documents where the total exceeds the limit move up. Set the limit to the maximum the group is authorised to approve.

Where: Approval flow → Groups and settings → open a group → Details tab

1. Enter an amount in the Approval limit field (in the company’s primary currency).
2. Select the Superior group — the group that will receive documents above this limit.
3. Save.

Limit value	Effect
A positive amount	Group approves up to that amount; higher amounts escalate
0	Every document escalates — the group validates but never approves
No limit set	Group is the top of the chain; nothing escalates further

Example

Your office-supplies buyer group has a limit of 10,000. An invoice for 12,000 arrives: the buyer approves, then Nordflow automatically routes it to the CFO group for final sign-off.

Caution

Limits are in the company’s primary currency. Foreign-currency invoices are converted at the current exchange rate before the comparison is made.
