What triggers a notification

Notification types

Nordflow supports the following notification types:

Mentions — a colleague has tagged you with @ in a note on a document.
When a document is rejected — you are notified when a document you are involved with is rejected.
Daily approval reminder — a daily reminder about documents waiting for your approval.
Awaiting approval — daily reminder — a daily reminder that a document is awaiting your approval.
Awaiting second approval — daily reminder — a daily reminder for documents that require a second approval.
Payment rejected — notifies you when a payment is rejected.
(Nordpay) When a payment is successful — notifies you when a payment in Nordpay completes successfully.

Who can toggle notifications

Notifications can be turned on or off in two ways: a user can adjust their own notification preferences on their user profile, or an admin can configure notification settings on the user’s behalf.

Bell vs Approval tab

The Approval tab shows documents waiting for your approval action in the flow. The bell highlights events where something requires your personal attention — including events on documents that are not currently in your approval step. Both surfaces serve a different purpose and will often have different content.
